School Leagues

Youth Development & Mass Participation

SAFF have initiated a couple of school leagues in Cape Town this past year with the intention of developing the Youth through Mass Participation in FUTSAL. The leagues we initiated last year, came at the perfect time, as most of the schools were experiencing the drought and thus made their fields unplayable.

RAEDA Sports and Remarkables FC partnered up with us to form the first official schools Futsal league in Cape Town. The partnership began off with a Referees Workshop conducted by our very own SAFF referees instructor. Thereafter, the RAEDA recreational schools league began with a fully fledged Futsal league being played over 5 or 6 different venues on a weekly basis.

Both boy’s and girls u15, 17 & 19 teams were involved and we experienced MASS PARTICIPATION for the first time. Through FUTSAL we will experience MORE touches on the ball, higher intensity, more rotation of players and better quality of skills.

This year, the RAEDA Schools league reverted back to the 11vs11 format and we lost all those schools to their league, however, we began a new schools league in Cape Town with some new Futsal Schools.

In early July 2019, we had The Settlers High School host a DERBY Day against Fairmont High School and this Derby showed some PROMISE for the game of schools FUTSAL. Nobody can hide on the FUTSAL court, the game will test each and every Fundamental skill in your body and it will shape our Futsal players into great footballers.

All the SKILLS one would ever need to play Football, come from FUTSAL.

“FUTSAL is an excellent way for children to DEVELOP their skills and understanding of the game. My technique and my dribbling skills came from playing FUTSAL!” – Ronaldinho
